The era of globalization of today’s world and the future marked by competition demands highly competitive competencies. Many future competencies can be achieved through good higher education, especially doctoral level as the top level of education with the learning outcomes of “able to develop new knowledge, technology and/or art in the field of science or professional practice through research, to produce creative, original, and tested works; able to solve the problems of new science, technology, and/or art in the field of science through inter, multi, and transdisciplinary approach. To achieve these competencies, the Doctoral Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is trusted to hold the Doctoral Program in Islamic Educational Psychology.

The Doctoral Program in Islamic Education Psychology UMY provides quality education services to produce a competent doctor in the field of Islamic education psychology. The Doctoral Program of Islamic Education Psychology not only fulfills the government’s accelerated program of producing 7000 doctors but also more than that, the Doctoral Program of Islamic Educational Psychology UMY prepares competent doctors in solving various national problems, especially in the field of education.

The Doctoral Program in Islamic Educational Psychology was established in 2006. The establishment of this doctoral program was approved by the government based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education of the Ministry of Religious Affairs No. Dj.II/451/2006. This Doctoral Program in Islamic Educational Psychology has been accredited by National Accreditation Board of Higher Education with Rating (Value) of Accreditation B with a number of SK BAN-PT: 013/BAN-PT/Ak-IX/S3/XI/2010. Then in 2016, it managed to maintain the Accreditation B with the number of SK: 1134/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/D/VII/2016.
