Children with disabilities have the same basic rights as children in general, especially in terms of religious education, the right to life, and participation to get protection from acts of violence and discrimination. This is an important reason for the study of the dissertation of ABD Hasyim which is the theme of “The Model of Islamic Learning in the Framework of Self-Confidence Character Education, Discipline and Student Honesty (Study in Junior Secondary-A Surabaya),” held on Thursday (1/3) on the Integrated Campus of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY).
In the trial, ABD Hasyim won a doctorate with a very satisfying predicate. The title was achieved on the implementation of the Doctoral Promotion Open Exam, the UMY Graduate Islamic Education Psychology Program and was retained in front of a team of examiners headed by Sri Atmaja P, Rosyidi, S.T., MSc.Eng., Ph.D., PE, promoter of one Prof. Dr. Imam Bawani, M.A., promoter of two Dr. Muhammad Azhar, M.Ag, with Prof. member. Dr. Sutrisno, M.Ag. Dr. M. Nurul Yamin, M. Si, Dr. Arif Budi Raharjo, M.Si., and Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.A.
Abd. Hasyim said that the model of Islamic learning should be emphasized on character education, self-confidence, and discipline. “Junior Extraordinary-A Surabaya that I have studied has students can not see (blind). Although they can not see they have the ability to memorize Asmaul Husna complete with its meaning. Besides, it also keeps performing wudhu worship perfectly, praying five times and reciting the Qur’an. This is instilled into encouragement and passion to work ethos, orderly behavior, and increase the value of student spirituality, “said Hashim.
Hasyim added in the process of learning, including the learning of Islamic education at least there are three main components that influence each other. “The first component of learning conditions, the two methods of learning, the three learning outcomes. The three components are interconnected and constitute a unity to achieve the predetermined teaching and learning objectives. So as a teacher should be able to pay attention to the objective factors to be achieved at the time of learning, both in determining learning methods and strategies. Character education will focus on building meaning, seeking happiness, setting goals, and teaching students to be independent and responsible, “Hashim said.
Hasyim further added that Islamic religious education for people with disability can be interpreted as an effort to prepare students in believing, understanding, living and practicing it in everyday life. “Junior Extraordinary-A Surabaya is an example of an educational institution that has been issued many students and become a human who has a mental spiritual, character, confidence, discipline and honest,” he concluded.
